Larry Fonnest for Golden Valley City CouncilLarry Fonnest, a 21 year Golden Valley resident, is seeking re-election to the Golden Valley City Council this November 7th.

His desire to serve has everything to do with getting things done for Golden Valley residents that will bring positive, long-term benefits. He has a demonstrated vision for ensuring a strong, vibrant future for Golden Valley and its neighborhoods.

Larry earned a B.A. in political science and an M.A. in public land management from the University of Minnesota. Over his career, he has worked management positions in the public, private and non-profit sectors and has managed budgets in excess of ten million dollars. Currently, he is a retired former business owner, having sold his successful venture in 2014.

Larry is a lifelong community advocate having served on numerous bodies including the boards of the National Association of Service and Conservation Corps, the Minnesota Office of Citizenship and Volunteer Services, and the Minnesota Commission on National and Community Service. He was a member of the steering committee for the Minnesota Alliance with Youth and has served on numerous Governor-appointed Blue Ribbon Commissions. Larry was also a fellow at the Institute for Renewing Community Leadership sponsored by Wilder Foundation, Minnesota Council on Foundations and the University of St. Thomas.
